Lyrics/Story and Credits

Take Me There    Hide

The melody of this song was given about ten years ago. Somehow I could never come up with what I felt was a strong chorus. Everything has a time and it happened one night as I was humming the melody that the Lord gave the words "Take Me There". Later Jason Davidson and I finished the lyrics to the song. It was easy writing because this world is not my home. As I grow older I realize how much this statement is so true for every believer. This is one of my all time favorite songs because I look so forward to seeing Jesus. Sometimes I go there in my mind and spirit but someday face to face.

(Verse)
Been lots of places
These feet have strolled a lonely shore
I've watched the sea reach for the sky
Drank from oasis
And I have scaled a mountain side
Never thought I could reach so high
But with the rain there comes an emptiness
The clouds all hid the sun
Being home sick over comes me
But my journeys just begun
(Chorus)
Take me there
I'm longing for a place
I've only seen in my thoughts and in my dreams
Take me there
I'm weary of this world and I believe heaven is my destiny
(Verse)
Turn back the pages
Lines and lines of loneliness
I wrote the book on misery
Just hollow phrases
Without a reason or a rhyme
My story became a tragedy
But don't judge me by my cover
Cause inside I'm running free
He rewrote my happy ending
He's coming back for me
(Repeat Chorus)
(Bridge)
Over the rainbow
I'll finally find, my street of gold
Somewhere beyond the moon
I'll hear you speak my name
I'll come running falling in your arms
(Repeat Chorus)
